So as someone who has probably gotten at Riley on LJ in the past & been on the oreo train & done crowdfunded creative things &  been a hot fucking mess I’m going to say this about Arkh & Riley…shit happens. No really, I am so far from flawless & my history is checkered (to say the least), and there are people who rightfully hate the shit out of me. There are also people who hate me for reasons that have little to do with my current reality or any reality. And yes, I get not wanting to give money to a project because you have side eye for a founder (hell, I do that), but can we stop pretending self-hate & internalized bigotry isn’t rooted in other shit that can be addressed over time in ways that don’t play out on the internet? Like, I get that shit makes people uncomfortable, but the reality is that a lot of POC go through the kind of cognitive dissonance on display. So do survivors & it is hard to look at later & uncomfortable to discuss, but sometimes hard shit is hard shit & people don’t handle it well. And yes, feel free not to donate or whatever, but don’t act brand new about trauma & lashing out while insisting on perfect responses from survivors and expect folks not to side eye you too.

because Arkh looks successful and how dare HOW DARE any person of color have anything even LOOK successful without some reminder or attempted reminder of how they should behave to have it. I also think some of what Riley does is heartsingingly innovative and adorable .
