Apparently a group of Girl Scouts is trying to spearhead a boycott of Girl Scout cookies (usually sold around this time of year) because of a troop in Colorado admitting a young transgender girl earlier this year. Something about the ~integrity~ of GSUSA, danger for children, blah…

wouldn’t it make more sense for those girls to drop out of the girl scouts if they feel so strongly about it?  there’s just something about boycotting your own organization that doesn’t make any sense.

No. Because the idea isn’t just to avoid something they might dislike or personally disagree with. The point is to control all possible spaces and make sure the only people who get to participate are the people they approve of.

This isn’t about anything except trying to maintain privilege and dominance.

The point is for THEM to have control. If they simply leave, they relinquish that control and dominance and it’s an admission that the organization doesn’t personally belong to them, that they aren’t the top dogs.

All fights like this are the same. It’s never about someone’s morality or beliefs. It’s about control. It’s about dominant groups wanting to command. Privilege is basically the belief that the world ought to adapt to your wants and needs rather than the other way around.

Bolded and BAM.

Bold and italics for possibly the best paragraph EVER!!!!
